Johnny Throws – Axe Throwing Claimed

Indoor Axe throwing in Llandudno

If we told you there’s a new night spot in Llandudno that combines awesome fun, a fully stocked bar, and some of the finest food the town has to offer, would you believe us? You should! Llandudno is now home to North Wales’ first and only indoor axe-throwing venue: Johnny Throws.

Situated at the top of Mostyn Street, Johnny Throws is going places. It’s the brainchild of Morgan Austin, founder of the hugely successful pizza chain, Johnny Dough’s. “I love Llandudno…” Morgan explained. “but there’s not much to do at night… the bowling alley has gone, there’s no cinema any more, no go-karting or indoor crazy golf, in terms of modern, seaside towns, we’re in danger of falling behind.”

So, what can you expect at Johnny Throws? What’s making it so popular? Let’s walk you through the experience…

First, you choose your package, from throwing-only to the fully-catered option: The Party Thrower. This is a full hour of throwing plus 2 drinks and a Johnny Dough’s pizza. Your night is sorted. You must arrive 15 minutes before your slot for a safety debrief, then it’s time to throw your first axes.

“What great fun. Was not expecting it to be as good as it was. It started with a friendly welcome, good instructions and demonstration and just a fabulous evening’s entertainment. Will go again and recommend it to friends and family.”
– Simon B. Trip Advisor. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Though the chunky wooden targets are satisfyingly primaeval, the gameplay is powered by modern projectors and a user-friendly app. Throwers have a choice of seven games, from Noughts n Crosses (great for couples) to Battle Axes (awesome for groups), to Target Practice (the best way to hone your skills).

And what about the food? Johnny Dough’s pizzas are now a genuine part of Llandudno culture, scoring 4.7/5 on Google from 1.8K reviews over the 7 years they’ve been around. Enjoy your pizzas while you throw, or have the guys set a table for you at Johnny Dough’s a few doors down the road.

“We did the Throws and Doughs package and thought it was a great deal! We had a great night, [there’s a] few different games you can play whilst throwing but also the chance to wind down with a pizza later on! Would definitely recommend it as something new to try, I’ll be going back”
– Emily Mac, Google ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Want even more good news? They’ve now introduced Johnny Juniors… axe throwing for kids! Don’t worry, it’s not with real axes!!! Plus, the full venue is now available for hire with a variety of off-the-shelf packages, ideal for corporate, Christmas, birthdays, hen, stag and kids parties. And for locals looking for a new hobby, you can build a team of four players and sign up for the leagues.

“A venue like this is exactly what Llandudno has needed for a while… Something different, fun and very good value. Well done Johnny Throws. You’ve nailed it.”
– Chez and Steve, Trip Advisor ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
